A wedding ceremony at Madhuban Garden in Premnagar police station area of Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, turned into a battlefield on Sunday night when immediately after Jaymala, the bride and groom’s parties allegedly came face to face over additional demands for dowry and money. Within no time the dispute escalated to such an extent that there was a fierce fight between the two parties, chairs were thrown and a stampede like situation was created among the wedding guests. The video of this entire incident was captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the garden, which is now going viral on social media. After the incident, the bride flatly refused to go with the groom and the marriage remained incomplete.
The atmosphere deteriorated after Jaymala
According to the information, the marriage procession had reached Madhuban Garden in Premnagar from Kotwali police station area of Jhansi. Initially the marriage rituals were going on normally. The procession was welcomed, food and drink arrangements were made for the guests and the Jaymala program was also completed. But it is alleged that immediately after Jaymala, some people from the groom’s side started demanding additional money. The atmosphere became tense when the girl’s side protested.

Girl’s father, brothers fight
According to eyewitnesses, first there was an altercation and then the matter reached a scuffle. It is alleged that people from the groom’s side beat up the girl’s father, brothers and relatives. Even the chairs in the garden started moving and there was chaos in the wedding ceremony. The people present there somehow separated the two sides.
Demand of Rs 5-7 lakh after Jaimal
The bride’s brother-in-law Jitendra Ahirwar alleged that the wedding procession had reached around 11 pm and was welcomed with full respect. He said that during the wedding ceremony, some people were gambling on the terrace of the garden, when they were stopped, a dispute started. It is alleged that after this the people from the groom’s side became aggressive and started threatening the family members. According to Jitendra Ahirwar, somehow the garland was organized, but after that a demand of Rs 5 to 7 lakh was made. When the girl’s side expressed inability, the fight started. He alleged that the bride’s brothers and relatives were taken behind the stage and beaten. Many people were thrown to the ground and women kept trying to calm the dispute with folded hands.
No procession, no farewell, the wedding procession returned
After the incident, the remaining wedding rituals could not be completed. Neither the seven rounds nor the farewell of the bride took place. It is alleged that late at night the groom’s party packed their luggage and left without taking the bride with them. The family says that the bride is extremely frightened by the incident. She says that she cannot feel safe in a family which beat up her father and brothers on the day of her marriage.
50 to 100 people stopped from going to the police station
The victim’s family alleged through an application in Premnagar police station that after the incident, when they were going to Premnagar police station to lodge a complaint, 50 to 100 people tried to stop them on the way. The family members somehow reached the police station through the streets, but there was no immediate hearing.
In the complaint given by bride Bhavna, it has been alleged that her family members were beaten up during the wedding. His brothers, brother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law and even his father were beaten. It was also said in the complaint that a car, four lakh rupees in cash, clothes and other items were given in the marriage, despite this the groom’s side was continuously putting pressure. Claiming that around Rs 10 lakh was spent on the marriage, the girl’s side has demanded action and compensation for the loss.

The CCTV video of the incident has now become a topic of discussion in the entire city. In the video, pictures of sudden uproar and fighting during the wedding ceremony are visible. Police have said that the matter is being investigated and further legal action will be taken on the basis of the complaint.
