A quick-thinking hero has helped save a toddler from oncoming traffic.
Rebecca Cooper uses a walking stick to get around, but that didn’t stop rushing to the aid of the pint-sized runaway as he sprinted towards a busy road in Melbourne’s southwest.

In a sliding doors moment captured on camera, Cooper managed to stop the young boy and pull him to safety just in time.
A mother of three living with MS and Crohn’s disease — which affects her ability to walk — Cooper used her walking stick in an unconventional way to save the child.
“He was so fast, he had that run, like he was forward-facing and he was just off,” she said.
“I couldn’t run because I have a walking stick, so I got out and I just then just grabbed my walking stick and used it to pull the poor little kid in.
“I hate having this walking stick, but yesterday it came in handy.”
The youngster’s parents were visibly shaken, so much so they didn’t even say thank you.
“She was pretty distraught,” Cooper said. “I think she was just thinking ‘I’ve got my child back’ because she really grabbed him.
“It could have been your child that got away from you, which can happen to any parent.”
The drama unfolded during a routine trip to the shops.
“We just were going to put on our lotto,” Cooper said.
They didn’t win a cash prize, but a child is safe.
“That’s better than anything we could have had,” she said.
