The matter of filling 52 liters of petrol in the tank of a 45 liter capacity car at a petrol pump in Kanpur is in constant discussion. After the complaint, the administrative team reached the spot and investigated, but during the investigation it was said that no fault was found in the machines. Despite this, many questions still remain in the entire matter.
The matter came to light when a vehicle owner claimed that the tank capacity of his car was 45 litres, but 52 liters of petrol was filled in it at the petrol pump. The complainant says that even before filling the petrol, there was about 2 to 3 liters of fuel in the vehicle. In such a situation, filling 52 liters of petrol in the tank is questionable.
After the complaint, the team of District Supply Department reached the petrol pump for investigation. DSO Rakesh Kumar said that after receiving the complaint, the team investigated on the spot, but no technical fault was found in the machines. He said that as per the manual of the vehicle, some additional fuel can be held in the tank beyond the prescribed capacity.

However, when he was asked how 9 to 10 liters of additional petrol could be placed in a 45 liter capacity tank, he cited the manual. Even after their answer, the question remains that how such a large quantity of extra petrol was filled.
Officers arrived one and a half day after the complaint
Another aspect in the case has attracted people’s attention. The complainant alleges that despite filing the complaint on Saturday, immediate investigation was not done. He says that instead of taking action, the local officials kept giving different reasons. Sometimes reference was made to being in Lucknow and sometimes to other busyness.
It is alleged that the inspection was conducted on Monday, about one and a half days after the complaint. This raises the question whether the petrol pump was given enough time to correct its alleged deficiencies before the inspection. The complainant says that the officers should have immediately reached the spot and investigated.
The consumer also claimed that 52 liters of petrol was not poured in one go. First about 40 liters of petrol was filled and then more than 11 liters of petrol was added. It was reportedly said that the machine does not put more than 45 liters of petrol at a time.
Pump receipt different, matter complicated
In this case, information related to the outlet of vehicle manufacturer Volkswagen has also come to light. According to the company manager, his technician believes that it is not possible to hold 52 liters or more petrol in a vehicle of this model. He says that if we talk about extra capacity or margin, there can be a maximum difference of 4 to 5 litres.
Meanwhile, questions are also being raised on the role of local officials regarding delay in investigation and timing of inspection. The complainant has also expressed apprehension of possible nexus between the officials and the petrol pump. However, during administrative investigation, the petrol pump machines were declared normal.
Now the biggest question in the whole matter is how 52 liters of petrol was filled in the 45 liter capacity tank. In the investigation, the machines have been found to be correct, but the technical information related to the complainant and the vehicle is further complicating the matter. In such a situation, this matter still remains a subject of debate and discussion.
